architecture: San Salvatore, Sardinia.
The 6th c. Christian church at the end of the high street was built over a pagan temple for water worship. The sacred well still exists in the crypt below the nave. It can be visited by descending the original flight of stone steps.
San Salvatore became famous in the 20th c as the set for filming spaghetti westerns, starring Clint Eastwood.
